The California Department of Justice requires that you submit fingerprint images and the $25 to receive a copy of your criminal history. The form to submit fingerprint images is found on the webpage. You will need to click on the link for “Use the Live Scan Form.” You can select to have the form in English or Spanish. You will need to either print the form out and fill it out completely or you can fill the form out on the computer before printing it out.

Make sure to check the Record Review box for the type and reason for the Application. You can go to your local police department or county sheriff’s office for fingerprinting services. If you wish to locate a Public Live Scan location, you will need to click on the link that is found on the criminal records request page.

After you have submitted the required information to the Department of Justice and the Office of the Attorney General, you will need to wait for a response. It can take anywhere from 2 days to 2 weeks to receive a response regarding your criminal records.
